Nvidia, best known for its powerful graphics cards, is now reportedly working on a brand-new gaming laptop chip based on Arm architecture.
This chip could make its debut later this year or in early 2026, and it may come packed inside a high-performance Alienware laptop, according to a report from Taiwanese publication United Daily News.
This move would be a big step for Nvidia, as it would be entering the world of Arm-based Windows laptops—an area currently led by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.
A New Kind of Chip
To make this new chip, Nvidia is said to be partnering with MediaTek, a company known for making processors used in smartphones and tablets. Together, they are reportedly building an accelerated processing unit (APU).

This APU will combine an Arm-based CPU (central processing unit) with a Blackwell GPU (graphics processing unit), which is Nvidia’s next-generation graphics technology.

This chip is expected to be very powerful. A recent leak from tech YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead showed what appears to be a photo of the chip.

Sources suggest it could run at 80 to 120 watts, which puts it in the same power range as high-end gaming laptop chips today.
Currently, most Windows laptops use chips made by Intel or AMD. However, the tech world is slowly shifting toward Arm-based processors, which are more power-efficient and are used in most smartphones and tablets.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series has been leading the way in Arm-based Windows laptops, but these chips have one big issue: poor gaming performance.
Since many PC games are made for Intel or AMD chips, they need to be emulated to run on Snapdragon, using Microsoft’s Prism software. This often leads to low frame rates and reduced compatibility.
Nvidia’s upcoming chip could change that. With its own high-performance GPU built in, it might finally bring smooth and reliable gaming to Arm-based laptops—something gamers and developers have been waiting for.
Hints From Nvidia and Dell
Earlier this year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang confirmed that the company is working on an Arm-based CPU as part of its “Digits" AI supercomputer project. This shows that Nvidia is serious about developing its own chips beyond just graphics cards.
Dell CEO Michael Dell has also teased that Nvidia could play a big role in future AI PCs. When asked about this possibility in an interview, he simply replied, “Come back next year”—which many believe is a hint that something big is coming soon.
Competition in the Arm Laptop
Nvidia isn’t the only company eyeing the Arm-based PC market. MediaTek is also rumored to be working on its own laptop chip. Meanwhile, AMD may be developing an Arm chip for future Microsoft Surface devices.
With more tech giants entering the space, Qualcomm’s dominance in Windows on Arm laptops could soon face strong competition. If Nvidia and Alienware do release a gaming laptop with this new chip, it could be a game-changer for both gaming and AI-powered laptops.
